1. Placement

Each Sakkho tile model is different with slats positioned differently. The space between slats also varies with tile models, therefore, fasteners and the preferred installation option must be selected accordingly.

The tile base will determine which slats and areas of the tile are suitable for driving fasteners.

2. Screws and Nails on Top

Corrosion-resistant screws, nails, grip lock style nails or decking nails can be used and placed on top slats of the tile after drilling a pilot hole.

Fasteners will generally be placed on top slats which are supported by a base slat.

3. Screws and Nails Inside

Corrosion-resistant screws, nails, grip lock style nails or decking nails can be fixed inside gaps which lead to the supporting wooden slats of the tile; screws and nails are in fact placed on the base layer of the tile and a pilot hole must always be drilled.

The space in between top slats may also slightly vary from about 4 to 8 mm gap from one tile model to another - the width of fasteners used for your project should be selected accordingly to fit inside the gap.

4. Nail Gun Nails

Angled finish nails can be placed on top slats of the tile that are supported by the base layer.

Sakkho tiles are made out of a top layer slat of about 15 mm and a base layer also about 15 mm for a total thickness of 30 mm. It is important to consider the size of the nails and the depth of penetration.

One option is to use 16Ga (64 mm), galvanized angled finish nails with a minimum of 20 mm depth of penetration which would be the standard nail size for most applications.

Angled finish nails should be placed as far possible from extremities of slats to avoid splitting the wood - ideally anywhere from 10 to 15 mm from extremities provided the area is supported by the base of the tile.
